windsurfing holidays in Golf De Rosas - Spain
Although the historic area now makes its living mainly from fishing and tourism there is still plenty to see and do in the surrounding area when you need a break from the action on the water. There are numerous bodegas in the area and some will even bottle your favourite for you as a memento. There are historic ruins nearby or for those interested in art, the Dali museum in Figueres or Dali's house in Cadeques. If you are into adrenalin sports why not take a trip to Ampuria Barva, which offers free fall parachuting.
The picturesque alleyways of the nearby village of L'Escala are frequently filled with hustle and bustle. There is certainly no shortage of sights worth visiting in this region, and cosy cafes and restaurants invite visitors to linger when they feel like taking a break.
The effect of the Pyranees on the wind, has shaped the Bay and the onshore conditions, with a 30m shallow water area make it the perfect spot for progressing to the next level. At the Southern end of the Bay of Roses, the Club Mistral centre is based and there is a rescue boat on standby for emergencies. However this is rarely needed as you are unlikely to drift out to sea. The two prevailing winds, the Tramontana, and the Garbi, dominate the region around the Bay of Roses, turning it into a first-rate surf sport.
