windsurfing holidays in Prasonisi - Rhodes
Prasonisi is a rural area, with a few shops, and several small tavernas that complete the village scene. There is limited nightlife, for more action, Lindos is an hour away by car. Set against a backdrop of green cultivated fields and soft rolling hills, the sea at Prasonisi is a dramatic contrast, with a mix of deeper blue water and white foaming waves.
The Sailing Conditions
The sailing here is completely unique, with a tiny ‘Green Island’ just offshore and a sandbar dividing the clear shallow water, thus creating superb wave break. The ‘Meltemi’ wind blows hard, during the summer months, met and accelerated by the ‘Venturi’ system, with very powerful results, in both strong offshore flat water speed sailing and radical onshore wave sailing over the sandbank. This venue is best for competent sailors, although a powerful safety boat is on standby from the Pro Centre Christof Kirschner should you need assistance.
